To keep our risk management journeys moving in the right direction it is so important that we’re equipped and supported with the right mix of knowledge, resources, and connections. For 75 years, RIMS has provided just that and I am excited to share what’s been added to that mix and waiting for you in the months ahead.
For many of us, risk management and insurance go hand-in-hand and mastering the basics is critical for success. In the coming weeks, RIMS will offer its most popular virtual workshop Fundamentals of Insurance. The Society will follow that up with one of its newest virtual workshop Risk Taxonomy for Effective Risk Management – a course that explores the process for classifying and managing risks to enhance decision-making, improve regulatory compliance, and strengthen risk management capabilities. Almost weekly, RIMS offers webinars covering a range of topics. They are all available for you in RIMS On-Demand Webinar library. You can check out all the titles here.
Today’s risks have forced us all to become more strategic in our approach to navigating uncertainty. And the demand for RIMS new CRO certificate program confirmed that! Just a few short weeks after RIMS added the RIMS-CRO Certificate Program in Advanced Enterprise Risk Management to its mix, the program completely sold out. Not to worry. Registration for the October session is now open.
RIMS events always offer the perfect mix of education, networking, and dare I say it: FUN!!! In the next few months RIMS chapters will shine, as we kick off, what I like to call, “Regional Conference Season.”
The first up is the 2025 Florida RIMS Educational Conference scheduled for July 29 – August 2 in Naples. Now in its 49th year (that’s no typo!!!), the Florida Educational will once again bring together the best, brightest, and most accomplished risk professionals from across the state for an unforgettable RIMS experience. Registration is still open. I hope to see you there.
From Naples, I’m ready to mix-it-up with my risk friends in San Antonio for the first-ever RIMS Texas Regional Conference (August 4-6). It has been amazing to watch the four Texas chapters come together to develop a program that will hit the major risks and trending strategies that are critical to impactful risk management in Texas. The sessions are now posted, and we are excited to welcome keynote speaker Huw Edwards who will share his views on the power of resilience, leadership, and purpose.
Next up is a whole different type of rodeo in Calgary, the host city for 2025 RIMS Canada Conference (September 14-17). RIMS Canada Conference is the largest gathering of risk management leaders in the country, and I have no doubt that we will top last year’s record-breaking attendance. Early bird registration is now open. There’s no time like the present to book your trip to this can’t-miss event.
As we continue to celebrate RIMS 75th Anniversary this year, we recognize all the amazing accomplishments this Society has achieved (including those by our 2025 Award Winners – check out newly published Awards Magazine). However, it’s also the perfect reminder that we must focus on the future to ensure the RIMS Community is equipped with the right mix of fundamental, strategic, and innovative resources to take their risk programs and careers to new heights.
Thank you to everyone who shares their experiences, attends our conferences, engages with our chapters, takes part in our many learning opportunities, and dedicates their time to helping RIMS deliver on that promise!
Sincerely,
Kristen Peed
RIMS 2025 President
