Prepare to Plug into a High-Powered Opportunity

Understanding Insurance Challenges with Battery Energy Storage Systems that Utilize Lithium-Ion Technology

RIMS Member FREE | Non-member $50

Sponsored byTravelers

Attend this session to learn about Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) technology and the increasing demand for these systems as our power grid transforms how we generate and consume electricity.

Lithium-ion technology is used by more than 90% of the large-scale BESS in the U.S. (2003–2018). Experts will explain why lithium-ion BESS is growing rapidly and has become the technology of choice for most consumers.

BESS has applicability across a wide spectrum of commercial operations and is used by utilities, grid operators, and consumers. Its benefits include integration of renewables, improved resiliency, reduced costs, and improved power quality.

The webinar will also address property and casualty underwriting challenges for lithium-ion battery energy systems. We will provide examples of controls that are important to consider implementing to reduce the likelihood or severity of fire and explosion resulting from a thermal runaway event, injury potential as a result of an electrocution, as well as other examples.

Finally, we will discuss the role of surety bonds in the lifecycle of a BESS installation project.

Note: All downloads and related contact information will be accessible to the webinar sponsor.
