Progress Over Perfection

March 13, 2026

Building a resilient risk management program is never a finished exercise. It must continuously adapt to emerging technologies, evolving exposures, shifting stakeholder expectations, and the broader forces shaping our organizations. While perfection may be the aspiration, meaningful success in risk management is ultimately defined by steady, disciplined progress.

Empowering risk professionals to progress has always been RIMS top priority. And, there is no better example than what is waiting for you at RISKWORLD this May.

Key to your progression is knowledge and RISKWORLD definitely delivers there. More than 150 education sessions are on tap for you in Philadelphia. We are thrilled to offer 8 pre-conference workshops this year that will include the RIMS-CRMP Prep Course and the chance to take the certification exam right there, onsite.

Connections certainly pave the way for progress and the RISKWORLD networking opportunities never disappoint. Get your comfortable shoes and let’s see how many of the 300 exhibiting solution providers you can meet with in the Marketplace.

What I love about RISKWORLD is that the week gives us a chance to pause, to reflect on our careers, and set new professional goals. If you’re looking for inspiration, you need to look no further than RISKWORLD’s powerful lineup of keynote speakers.

  • On May 4th, the first keynote presentation will feature best-selling author and leading influential management thinker Adam Grant. Grant’s work has transformed how individuals and organizations find purpose, improve performance, and create lasting impact. There is no doubt that the conversation with him will help us identify opportunities for progress.

  • Who knows more about this industry and global trends than RISKWORLD’s second keynote speaker Evan Greenberg? For the third year in a row, the Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Chubb/Limited Chubb Group will share his insight, perspective, and experiences collaborating with world leaders. That presentation will take place in the morning on May 5th.

  • RISKWORLD’s third mainstage presentation will welcome two highly respected leaders: Liberty Mutual Global Risk Solutions President Matthew Moore and WTW’s President of Risk Broking Lucy Clarke. The two will take the stage the afternoon of May 5th, outlining opportunities for risk leaders to navigate transformation, strengthen their strategic influence, and create meaningful impact within their organizations.

  • EMMY winner, Super Bowl Champion and current ABC Good Morning America co-anchor Michael Strahan will close out RISKWORLD on May 6th. Throughout his professional journey – both in the NFL and beyond – Michael has stopped at nothing to reach the pinnacle of success. His commitment to progress is abundantly clear and we can’t wait to learn from his experiences.

While RISKWORLD does seem to take center stage, I would be remiss if I didn’t highlight the important progress RIMS continues to make advocating for the profession. Next week, approximately 50 risk professionals will attend RIMS Legislative Summit and meet with elected officials’ offices to discuss legislation that significantly impacts our work. You can learn more about RIMS legislative priorities here. There is still time to register. I hope to see you in DC.

I also want to recognize the extraordinary contributions of RIMS Chapters. Recently, I had the privilege of attending the Upstate New York Chapter’s Education Day, where the energy and commitment of the local risk community were clear.  Around the world, chapter leaders generously invest their time and expertise to strengthen our profession. If you have not yet connected with your local chapter, now is an excellent time to do so.  Chapters are the foundation of RIMS and where our profession will thrive.

Progress in risk management requires continuous learning. It demands that we remain informed, forward-looking, and solutions oriented. Above all, it depends on collaboration and a continued willingness of this global community to share knowledge, challenge assumptions, and support one another.

I want to thank the members of this global community for continuing to share their experiences with RIMS. See you at RISKWORLD.

Sincerely,

Manny Padilla
RIMS 2026 President
