The Global Risk Management Institute, Inc. (GRMI)

GRMI is an institute that issues the Canadian Risk Management (CRM), Fellow in Risk Management (FRM) and RIMS Fellow (RF) Designations to its members and is an alumni association of individuals who hold these designations.To renew and continue the membership in GRMI, the individual pays a $50.00 (U.S. Funds) annual membership fee.

To Become a RIMS Fellow 

You submit the application to be a RIMS Fellow candidate.  You need not have
completed all the RF requirements before submitting an application for the
RIMS Fellow candidacy.

RIMS Fellow and GRMI Application
To register as a RIMS Fellow candidate, you download the application form,
complete, and send with a $50 check (U.S.).  Attach copies of any
documentation demonstrating completion of any course requirements.
Candidates should retain a copy of all documents that are sent to RIMS. 

Send check made payable to the Global Risk Management Institute, Inc., 
P.O. Box 95000-2520, Philadelphia, PA 19195-2520.

If you are paying by credit card, send application form and transcripts to:

New York, NY 10018.

You automatically become a member of the Global Risk Management
Institute, Inc. (GRMI) when you are accepted as a RIMS Fellow candidate.
In order to maintain the (RF) Designation, membership in the Global Risk 
Management Institute, Inc. (GRMI) must remain current.

RIMS Fellow Requirements 

invisiblegif•  Risk Management Foundation:
invisiblegif  Complete 3 courses at the university/college level in risk management (Risk Assessment, Risk Financing, Risk Control).
Check with your local university or college to find out if these three courses are offered
Or by way of holding one of the following designations or certificates:
Associate in Risk Management (ARM),
Canadian Risk Management (CRM) 
Certified Risk Manager (CRM)
ALARYS certificate
invisiblegif• A minimum of five years of experience in the industry at the time the designation is awarded.

Four Foundation Courses in Business
invisiblegif• Accounting and Finance are required.
invisiblegif• Two additional college or university-level courses in business, economics, MIS, law,
insurance, marketing or management.
invisiblegif• An applicant holding a business administration degree meets this requirement.

Twelve days of RIMS Workshops:
        Complete 12 days of RIMS Fellow workshops.  For details on upcoming RF
Workshops, please view the course calendar.

On-line Courses:
           
Each RIMS on-line course counts as a one-day workshop towards
the RIMS Fellow designation. A maximum of four on-line courses can be
used towards obtaining the RIMS Fellow designation. For details of the
on-line courses, click here.

In order to receive credit you must send us a copy of your Certificate of
Completion that you receive at the end of the on-line course. Please send
the copy to RIMS, Professional Development Department, 1065 Avenue of 
the Americas, New York, N.Y. 10018 or fax to 212-655-5929.

RIMS Fellow Continued Standing 

Once the RIMS Fellow designation is achieved, the following must be
completed every two years:

Professional Activity in Risk Management 
An individual must report the completion of a pattern of continued
professional activities related 
to risk management and can
include participation in chapter meetings and seminars, attendance at
conferences, teaching courses, publishing articles, and speaking
engagements. The individual report is verified by RIMS.  For specific

Department.

Ethical Standards
An individual is expected to adhere to a standard of high ethical conduct.

Note: For Individuals Holding the FRM designation
Individuals who previously completed the Fellow in Risk Management
designation have the option to retain the FRM or convert to
the RIMS Fellow designation.  For more details, click here to contact the
RIMS Professional Development Department.

Note: For Individuals Pursuing the FRM designation
FRM candidates have the option to continue pursuit of the FRM or
change to the RIMS Fellow. For more details, click here to contact
the RIMS Professional Development Department.
