Visa Integrity Fee FAQ
When does the fee take effect? October 1, 2025. Applications submitted on or after this date will include the new fee.
How will travelers pay the fee? The U.S. government hasn’t finalized the process yet. Details on payment methods, refunds and required documentation are still pending.
Does this apply to all countries? No. It applies to travelers from countries outside the Visa Waiver Program — including China, Mexico, India and Brazil — who need a B-1/B-2 visa for business or tourism.
Will this effect renewals? Yes. Even travelers who have visited the U.S. before will pay the fee when renewing an expired or expiring B-1/B-2 visa.
Why is this happening? The fee was introduced under a federal budget law to offset costs and reduce overstays. It’s also part of a broader effort to tighten U.S. visa compliance.
