The safety and well-being of RISKWORLD attendees are among RIMS’ highest priorities. Each year, RIMS engages third-party consultants to implement industry best practices for conference safety and security. RIMS also works closely with local law enforcement, public safety agencies, and city officials to provide a safe, secure, and productive RISKWORLD experience. The information below includes helpful safety tips, details about services and procedures at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

Safety at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center

1. In the event of an emergency during the conference, RIMS will provide notifications through the RISKWORLD Mobile App, email, and SMS text messages.
2. In case of a medical emergency, dial 3040 from any house phone or call 504-582-3040.
3. Review the Safety at Ernest N. Morial Convention Center information.
4. Review the Safety Tips for Business Travelers.
5. Remove your RISKWORLD registration badge when leaving the Convention Center.
6. Sharing your RISKWORLD conference badge is strictly prohibited. Badge sharing compromises on-site security and may prevent RIMS from contacting your designated emergency contact when necessary.
7. If your RISKWORLD badge is lost, notify a RIMS staff member immediately. Staff members will be available in the registration area and at RIMS HQ inside the Convention Center.
8. RIMS provides shuttle service between designated hotels and the Convention Center, as well as transportation to the Opening Reception. Attendees are encouraged to use the RISKWORLD shuttle service when traveling between their hotel and the Convention Center. For late-night or early-morning events and meetings, consider using a ride-share service. RISKWORLD shuttle information will be available in the RISKWORLD Mobile App.
9. Registration kiosks and security personnel will be stationed at all access points to the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. Entry to all areas of the Convention Center, including sponsored hospitality spaces and meeting rooms, requires completed RISKWORLD registration and an official RISKWORLD badge.
10. When walking, remain in well-lit, populated areas and avoid distractions such as using your mobile phone.
11. Do not display hotel guestroom keys in public.
12. Guests are strongly encouraged to use only the main entrance of their hotel.

Prohibited Items

For your safety, the following items are prohibited:

1. Firearms (functional and replica)
   • Including airsoft, BB, cap, paintball, pellet, and toy guns


2. Weapons (functional and replica)
   • Including knives of any type or size, projectiles, blunt weapons, and chemical substances (such as mace or pepper spray)


3. Explosive devices or material
   • Including fireworks of any kind, incendiary devices such as flares, ammunition, or any other dangerous material.


4. Noise makers
   • Including air horns


5. Banners or pamphlets
   • Including any material deemed disruptive to the event


6. Personal drones or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)


7. Motorized or non-motorized vehicles
   • Including bikes, skateboards, and scooters


8. Anything deemed inappropriate or unsafe for the venue by RIMS, law enforcement, or security personnel

RISKWORLD COVID-19 Policy

RIMS and the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center will work together to maintain a safe and clean environment. Since the onset of the pandemic, the facility has expanded its cleaning and sanitation protocols and installed additional hand-sanitizing stations. The RISKWORLD COVID-19 policy will align with applicable local requirements. There are currently no COVID-19 mandates in New Orleans. If local requirements change, RIMS will notify all attendees.
