New Guide Boosts Organizations’ Risk Management Capabilities to Achieve Enterprise Objectives

NEW YORK (November 27, 2012) — To support the growing number of organizations that are turning to strategic risk management programs as a means to create and protect value, RIMS unveiled its new comprehensive “RIMS Strategic Risk Management Implementation Guide.”  The 68-page book is designed to walk organizations through a strategic risk management framework and give them an inside look at how some of the world’s leading organizations have developed a balanced risk-taking approach, pursue more ambitious targets and be more successful.

The new publication provides guidance to public, private and not-for-profit organizations for developing, designing and implementing interdisciplinary and practical risk management applications for strategy-setting and execution.  Developed by the members of RIMS Strategic Risk Management Development Council, the guide also offers best practices from leading organizations that have successfully adapted strategic risk management practices to create value.

RIMS has identified three intended outcomes for users of this guide:

** Boost organizations’ risk management capabilities to achieve their respective objectives

** Drive value-driven decision-making competencies throughout organizations

** Deliberately recast risk perceptions in order to realize greater opportunities

“There is no single best way to do strategic risk management but, taking the first step and thinking about risk in a predictive and strategic way will not only protect the value of an organization, it will proactively help create and capture value – all in alignment with its objectives,” said Carol Fox, RIMS Director of Strategic and Enterprise Risk Practice.  “Our goal was to provide all executives with a comprehensive but easy-to-understand resource to develop a framework for implementing a strategic risk management program, enabling them to navigate around potentially dangerous obstacles on the path to success.”

The full guide can be purchased at www.RIMS.org/RIMStore.  The guide is $99 for RIMS members and $199 for non-members.
