RIMS Presents 2014 Anita Benedetti Student Involvement Program Grant to 30 Undergraduate & Graduate Students

(NEW YORK) March 25, 2014 – RIMS, the risk management society™, presented 30 college students with a 2014 Anita Benedetti Student Involvement Program grant.   The program recognizes the achievements of outstanding undergraduate and graduate risk management students, providing them with airfare, hotel expenses, registration fees and a meal stipend to attend RIMS 2014 Annual Conference & Exhibition scheduled for April 27 – 30 in Denver.  

“Now, in its 36th year, the Anita Benedetti Student Involvement Program continues to emphasize RIMS’ commitment to risk management and insurance students pursuing rewarding careers in this dynamic discipline,” said RIMS Executive Director Mary Roth. “At the conference, these 30 students will be privy to an exceptional educational program designed specifically for them, as well as tremendous opportunities to network with industry leaders.  Congratulations to this year’s students.  We look forward to hosting this exceptional group of future leaders.”

Funding for this year’s program was provided by the following sponsors:  The Spencer Educational Foundation, AIG, Liberty Mutual, McGriff, Seibels & Williams, Inc. and Sedgwick.  The program is co-sponsored by the RIMS Atlanta, Carolinas, Chesapeake, New Jersey, New York, Piedmont, Potomac and Virginia Chapters.

The RIMS Student Involvement Program was initiated as a pilot program at the 1978 Annual Conference in New Orleans.  Due to its overwhelming success, the Student Involvement Committee was created, and the program has become a permanent part of the RIMS Annual Conference. The name was changed to the Anita Benedetti Student Involvement Program in 1997.
