RIMS Chapter Officer’s Survey – Enter to win an Apple iPhone or Kindle Wireless Reader
On May 26, in lieu of the biweekly Chapter Officers’ Bulletin, RIMS distributed to all chapter officers the RIMS Chapter Needs Survey.
This survey is your opportunity to express to RIMS what works and what doesn’t, and most importantly what tools you need to better serve your chapter. The results of the survey will be used to guide the Membership & Chapter Services Committee in making recommendations on the development of new or expanded products and services geared to making your work with RIMS and your Chapter more productive and efficient.
To complete the survey, please visit http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/N7ZZXY6. We estimate that the survey will take between 15-20 minutes to complete.
And as a bonus, each completed survey will be entered into a drawing for a 16GB Apple iPhone GS* or a Kindle Wireless Reader.**
*Phone service not included.
** To be eligible, you must complete the entire survey and provide RIMS with your name, daytime phone number and email address.

RIMS 12th Annual Legislative Conference
45 attendees turned out to lobby over 60 congressional offices on RIMS long-time legislative priorities just as Congress was readying to convene a conference committee to address the federal financial overhaul legislation. That legislation contains many RIMS priorities such as reforms to streamline access to the nonadmitted or “surplus” lines insurance market, creation of a federal insurance office and requirements for very large financial institutions to form independent risk committees. Other issues discussed include opposition to H.R.3424 to impose a tax on reinsurers and support for the Medicare Secondary Payer Enhancement Act.
Such were the issues highlights at the RIMS on the Hill event where on Day 1, attendees were schooled in the policy and political arguments on all the issues featuring panels comprised of experts in their technical area.
Also featured was luncheon speaker and political commentator, Charlie Cook, who discussed the pending election cycle and political trends.
A special thanks and congratulations goes out to those chapters which sent RIMS members to participate.
As mentioned above, one of RIMS issue priorities for this year’s event was H.R. 3424 which impose a tax penalty for reinsurance. The following video was released on behalf of the Coalition for Competitive Insurance Rates, which RIMS is a part of. It creatively explains the legislation and its negative impact on the industry:
