Social Media: How can chapters get involved?
Recently, the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) published an article on how chapters can evaluate their communication strategies to incorporate the use of social media. Below is a brief summary of Social Media and Component Relations: 2010 and Beyond. Has your chapter seen success with social media communication? If so please post your comment on RIMS Chapter Officers
eGroup or email them to

  • Evaluate your communication methods to avoid information overload.
  • Select the social media tool that is best for your chapter’s needs. Attempting to tackle Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn may be too much.
  • Evaluate all available social media tools available in order to determine which one is best for your chapter.
  • Do not rely solely on social media. Non-electronic interaction is also important.
  • Use social media to enhance relationships and create a more personal environment.
  • Set your social media goals for 2010.

Happy Holidays! See you in January!
RIMS staff would like to wish our chapter officers a safe and happy holiday season. In observance of the holiday, RIMS Society office will close at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 24 and Thursday, December 31.   RIMS Society office will also be closed Friday, December 25 and January 1.

The next Chapter Officer Bulletin will go out on January 8, 2010.

Happy Holidays!

This information bulletin is distributed bi-weekly in an effort to reduce the amount of separate emails our Chapter officers receive from RIMS.  It highlights Chapter/member-related information including new benefits to Chapters, changes at RIMS and upcoming events.  Please review this email when you receive it to remain on the cutting-edge of what's relevant for chapters from RIMS.  Visit the archived versions of the Chapter Officer Bulletin archive at:  We would also be glad to include relevant information from your Chapter (announcements, meetings, brief success stories). Please send your submissions to
