Best in Show Award
The Exhibit Hall features a wide variety of innovative booths designed to promote company branding and provide product information in an interesting and inviting environment. This year, exhibitors enticed attendees with comfortable chairs, an oxygen bar for extra energy, a pool table with a professional player entertaining the crowd, a Hawaiian tiki hut, a Vermont lodge, a colorful Bermuda cottage and much more.

Next stop… San Diego
To get a taste for what is to come, attendees enjoyed the Exhibit Hall Networking Lunch and RIMS 2008 San Diego Kickoff Wednesday in the Exhibit Hall.
In 2008, the RIMS Annual Conference & Exhibition will return to San Diego from April 27 to May 1. The city last hosted the conference in 2004 and attendees can be sure to expect another exciting program in a beautiful setting where rainfall is rare and the average daily temperature reaches 70 degrees. In addition to 70 miles of beaches and world-class golf courses, the eighth largest city in the United States boasts a wide range of attractions from the historic Gaslamp Quarter to SeaWorld and the world-famous San Diego Zoo, home to the largest number of giant pandas in the country.
New Orleans Comic Relief
Award-winning comedian Dennis Miller entertained the RIMS crowd at a benefit concert for New Orleans. The concert was planned by RIMS to give the risk management community a chance to contribute to the Big Easy's speedy recovery. The net proceeds of the event will benefit the Friends of the New Orleans Fire Department towards the purchase of a Command Center vehicle, which will become an integral part of the city’s emergency management capabilities.
RIMS is donating $50,000 toward the event, and will match "dollar for dollar" individual and RIMS chapter contributions received up to an additional $50,000. For information on how you can contribute, visit www.RIMS.org/donate.
Enterprise Risk Management at RIMS 2007
In a world of increasing risk awareness, more and more organizations are taking a strategic, rather than tactical view on how to assess and address their risks. This has given the emergent discipline of enterprise risk management (ERM) unprecedented visibility. RIMS has taken the lead in promoting ERM as a major part of the future of risk management with the launching of its online Center of Excellence at www.RIMS.org/ERM and its Risk Maturity Model, which allows risk managers to assess where their own organizations stand between grasping the concepts of ERM and embracing it as a part of their daily operations.
This year, RIMS has offered its most robust lineup yet of ERM content, with a total of 18 sessions on the topic. On Monday, those new to ERM got to immerse themselves in the ERM Bootcamp, which went the full length of the afternoon and left attendees armed with everything they need to take ERM to the next level at their own organizations. Tuesday, ERM journeymen and experts dug into courses such as Moving Beyond Risk Identification and Prioritization, Driving ERM Integration and Efficiency Through Technology and Risk Mapping Made Practical. Wednesday featured the busiest ERM lineup yet, with six sessions spanning all levels of expertise.
A track such as this is doing a lot to help risk managers everywhere implement their own ERM programs. "We are on the cusp of moving ERM from a best practice to a requirement," says Carol Fox, senior director, risk management and business continuity planning for Convergys Corporation and the vice-chair of the RIMS ERM Development Committee. "You can gauge RIMS success in promoting ERM by the level of interest we are getting on the topic. Our approach is really helping the entire risk management discipline."
