Topics addressed included communicating with key stakeholders to create long-term value, risk-adjusted performance management, using metrics to reduce volatility and drive action, defining risk appetite, strategic risk manage-ment and the role of the chief risk officer.
Author and consultant Nate Booth delivered the Keynote Breakfast speech to a packed room at the first-ever RIMS ERM Conference. Speaking to a room full of industry professionals, Booth touched on topics such as the attitude and skills needed for a future full of uncertainty, success strategies used to find hidden opportunities and the very valuable six approaches to change, stressing that most people fail to realize that change creates opportunity and should be used to one's advantage. His energetic presentation had the crowd asking questions, shaking hands and even shouting for joy, leaving attendees fueled with optimism and enthusiasm for the remainder of the conference.
Special congratulations to Paychex Inc.'s enterprise risk management program for taking home the first ERM Award of Distinction. Goodwill was also recognized with an honorable mention. This new award honors organizations that have created value through their ERM programs.
