NEW YORK (October 8, 2012) - RIMS (The Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc.) has announced that Stuart L. Ruff, CMP will join the Society as its new director of meetings and events.  The announcement was made today by RIMS Executive Director Mary Roth and is effective immediately.

“RIMS conferences and events are an important outlet for the delivery of our thought leadership pieces, educational opportunities and sharing industry best practices that is not only expected by our members but the profession at large,” said Mary Roth.  “With a tremendous reputation in the meetings and events community and a wealth of experience choreographing large-scale events around the world, we’re extremely excited to welcome Stuart to RIMS.”

Stuart comes to RIMS with over 14 years of experience in event planning, exhibition management, sponsorship sales, contract negotiations, housing, hospitality and event marketing.  He has successfully managed legal, medical and government events in 30 different countries.

Previously, Stuart worked at the International Trademark Association (INTA) where he and his team managed city-wide exhibitions including INTA's 2012 annual meeting with over 9,600 delegates and budgets in excess of $10 million.

“RIMS conferences, most notably its Annual Conference & Exhibition, have gained international acclaim through their unmatched programming, networking opportunities, as well as their first-rate accommodations and amenities that significantly enhance the overall conference experience,” said Ruff.  “It’s a privilege to join this outstanding group of professionals.  I look forward to learning from them and contributing to their already outstanding lineup of events.”

In January, Stuart will assume the office of president for the Professional Convention Management Association’s New York Chapter.  He is a Certified Meetings Professional (CMP), a member of the Professional Convention Management Association Global Task Force and was listed by Connect Magazine as a "Top 40 Meeting Planner Under the Age of 40".
