The Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation is a widely recognized qualification that provides risk managers a foundation of knowledge and skills needed to identify, assess, monitor and limit risks. The CRM is recognized by the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) and awarded by the Global Risk Management Institute (GRMI).

Steps for Attaining the CRM designation
Create an online profile here
Enroll in each course at a university or institution that offers the required CRM courses listed below.
Mail proof of enrollment in a course from the university/institution along with the testing and processing fee of $125 (CAN), for each of the three courses, in the form of a cheque made payable to GRMI. GRMI will issue testing center location options
and access instructions via email for the course exam.
Once the candidate receives a passing score on all three exams, and submits their final transcripts, GRMI will issue a CRM designation completion certificate.

However, please note that the CRM designation will not be awarded until courses are complete and final transcripts submitted. Note: If you have already completed at least one of the CRM courses prior to April 30, 2015, please contact us at GRMI@RIMS.org as you will need to follow a different process.
Note: Please allow up to six weeks for processing of application materials.
In order to maintain your CRM designation, membership in GRMI must remain current. To renew and continue your membership, you must submit your annual dues payment of $50 (USD).
Although the CRM does not require continuing education credits, all GRMI members will receive an annual $100 rebate when they attend a RIMS in-person workshop to further their professional development. Visit www.RIMS.org/Education

If you hold the CRM designation and complete the RIMS Enterprise Risk Management workshop, you are eligible to take the CRM-E Online Examination in order to obtain your CRM-E designation.
The exam is based on the textbook, Enterprise Risk Management, published by the Institutes. Details and access information on the CRM-E Online Examination will be sent to you upon completion of the three-day workshop.
The Global Risk Management Institute, Inc. (GRMI)
is an institute that issues the CRM and is an alumni association of
individuals who hold the Canadian Risk Management (CRM) and RIMS Fellow (RF) designations.
