This session is an advanced discussion and exploration of the purpose of Section 111 of the Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP Extension Act of 2007 (MMSEA) 42 U.S.C. 1395(y) as it applies to insurance companies and their adjusters. Section 111 of the act compels mandatory reporting to Medicare by both Group Health Plans (GHP) and Non-Group Health Plans (NGHP). The main objective of this course is to insure that the adjusters fully understand the purpose of Section 111, its provisions, the notification requirements, the reporting timeline, and the penalties that will result from noncompliance with this law. This also addresses recent updates in policies and procedures from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on Medicare Set-aside arrangements.
