Including Associates at the Local Chapter Level

  • Consider other prospective members in your local area that may be eligible as Associates and send them information regarding membership and local chapter activities. Most professionals who are eligible to be Associates of the Society want to be members, but many do not realize that they are eligible! In order to get them involved, often all you have to do is ask them to become a member.
  • Please note: The “Friends of RIMS” label is used by some chapters to identify sponsors/participants, but it is not a category of RIMS membership, and is not recognized by RIMS. The “Friends of RIMS” label should not be used. However, RIMS chapters are allowed to have Chapter Only Associate members. These individuals would be members of solely the local chapter and only receive benefits from the local chapter. They are not members of RIMS. Your chapter would need to provide all administrative services for these individuals, invoicing, dues collecting, list keeping, etc. In order to make sure that these individuals are getting the maximum value out of their relationship with RIMS, it is important to encourage them to become Associate Members of the Society.
