Risk Management Magazine

Meet our editorial team and hear more about our magazine, our blog, and our new podcast

For nearly as long as there has been a Risk and Insurance Management Society, it has been publishing Risk Management, the flagship publication of RIMS and one of the risk and insurance industry’s leading publications. Risk Management features a blend of news, features and editorials that provides a compelling angle on what it means to manage risk in today’s world.

Risk Management relies heavily on its editorial team to create content as well as to work with outside contributors. Leading the team is editor-in-chief Morgan O’Rourke, who has been with the magazine for several years. He is the lead submissions editor, he has the last word on how every article looks before publication, and he is debuting a new column, “The Last Word” in 2010, that is sure to build a big audience. Be sure to check it out in the Jan/Feb issue! Editor Jared Wade is our primary news editor, and you can see his work each issue in the Forefront section of the magazine, where we cover news, interviews, book reviews and interesting statistics. Jared gets some help on this from Associate Editor Emily Holbrook, who, when not writing news and features, is the primary content editor for the Risk Management Monitor, the blog we launched last year. The Monitor’s audience is growing every day, so be sure to check it out, subscribe to our RSS feed and follow it on Twitter. And new ths year, the Monitor started producing the RiskCast, a regularly produced podcast where the editorial staff discuss risk news with a healthy dash of humor thrown in.

But that is only half of the magazine. Art and production manager Karen Arbasetti is responsible for designing each issue, and is the reason why the magazine looks so great Ted Donovan and Lynne Lancaster are our sales team, and thanks to them, our magazine and its associated products are as profitable as they are worth reading. And last but not least, circulation coordinator Callie Nelson makes sure that the latest issue always makes it to your in-box.

The editorial focus of the magazine has always been on things that matter most to risk managers, such as insurance industry developments, coverage issues, liability trends, enterprise risk management and much, much more. And while the magazine features more in-house material than ever before, it is still a submissions magazine, and it is always on the lookout for ideas and articles of any length. If you have an idea for an article but don’t like to write, drop Morgan a line and he, Jared or Emily will be happy to co-author a story with you. Risk Management has always been an important RIMS membership benefit, and one way we do that is to help as many RIMS members as possible onto the printed page. So what are you waiting for? Send in a submission or write a letter today, and we’ll see you on the pages of Risk Management magazine tomorrow. www.RMmagazine.com
