Award Description
Established in 1998, the Arthur Quern Quality Award recognizes significant improvements in quality within the field of risk management. This award acknowledges individuals and organizations that develop innovative products, processes, programs, systems, services or enterprise risk management solutions that serve to raise the quality of the industry. The innovative solution must be specific, identifiable, measurable and transferable to others at no cost.
Background
The Arthur Quern Quality Award honors the memory of Arthur Quern, the former chairman and chief executive of AON Risk Services, whose professionalism, vision, ethics and determination set a standard for quality in the insurance industry. Arthur Quern died tragically in a plane crash in 1996, however his dedication and commitment to quality live on as others in our industry are recognized by this award.
Nomination Guidelines
Nominations should specifically describe the significant contributions that raised the quality of products, processes, programs, systems, services or enterprise risk management solutions offered within the field of risk management by answering the following questions:
- What was the initial risk management problem?
- What innovative specific, identifiable, quality improvement was implemented? (Please provide details, context, historical background, etc.)
- What performance metrics were used to measure results, and what are the results to date?
- What other groups or entities might find value in your quality improvement?
- Is there any additional information that the selection committee should consider?
Nomination Process
Complete and submit the online Quern Award nomination form no later than 5:00 pm ET on Monday, January 9, 2012. Submissions received after the deadline will not be considered.
While nominations will be accepted from any individual or organization, the nominee must have prior knowledge of the submission and be actively involved in the process.
Selection Process
Entries will be reviewed by a subcommittee of the RIMS Quality Advisory Council. Additional information may be required and subcommittee members may require an interview with the nominator or the nominee. The selection committee will recommend the finalist to the entire Quality Advisory Council for final approval.
Submissions may be displayed, shown, duplicated, published or disposed of after the award winner is selected and announced at the RIMS Annual Conference & Exhibition.
The winner’s name and photo(s) may be used by RIMS in one or more publications.
Notification
A representative of the Quality Advisory Council will notify the recipient of the Arthur Quern Quality Award, as well as the submitter prior to the RIMS Annual Conference.
Recognition
In recognition of being selected, the Arthur Quern Quality Award will be presented to the individual or company receiving the award at RIMS Annual Conference & Exhibition and will be showcased in the official Show Daily publication.
Recipients will be given the opportunity to collaborate on an article about their quality improvement, which the Quality Advisory Council will have published on-line or in print. View the list of past recipients.
The Quality Advisory Council reserves the right to not bestow an award.
