Call for Sessions: RIMS 2010 Annual Conference & Exhibition  7/10/2009 

 

The Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) is seeking risk experts and thought leaders to submit innovative ideas and topics for consideration on the program for RIMS 2010 Annual Conference & Exhibition in Boston on April 25-29. The deadline to submit a program suggestion is July 17.

“Presenting at RIMS 2010 Annual Conference & Exhibition is an opportunity for risk professionals to share their expertise and offer fresh perspectives on trends affecting the industry,” says Janet G. Stein, CRM, vice chair of RIMS Conference Programming Committee and director of risk management and insurance at the University of Calgary. “In turn, presenters gain visibility for their organizations, network with peers and grow professionally.”

Topics can be submitted for either a lecture-style presentation (1.5 hours) or workshop (2.5 hours), which is more in-depth and typically involves case study examples. Workshops can comprise up to a total of four speakers, including at least one risk practitioner, who can discuss real-world cases and cover issues relevant to multiple industries and disciplines.

 Some suggested topics for either a lectured presentation or workshop include:

  • CFO/CEO views on risk management
  • Recession risk management
  • Enterprise risk management
  • H1N1 influenza and its affect on business continuity
  • Cyber risks
  • Risk management best practices
  • Insurance coverage and markets
  • Risk financing
  • Claims management
  • Captives
  • Legal trends and principles
  • Loss prevention
  • Risk modeling
  • Employee risks

Speakers receive complimentary registration on the days they are speaking, including access to sessions, meals and admission to the Exhibit Hall and special events.
