APRIL 2014: Professional Development Offerings 4/1/2014



As part of its ongoing Professional Development initiative, RIMS, the Risk Management Society™, will present the following educational offerings in the month of April:


April 3, 2014 - 1:00 –2:00 p.m. ET | On Demand after April 3
This RIMS webcast will focus on the issues facing commercial insurance buyers as uncertainty looms regarding TRIA’s extension. Experienced risk professionals will discuss the consequences if Congress fails to reauthorize TRIA, the impact to insurance policies, organizations’ potential financial obligations, as well as strategies to prepare for life without TRIA. Lead by members of RIMS External Affairs Committee, the webinar will also review opportunities for practitioners to advocate for a long term extension of the TRIA program.
Instructors: Janice Ochenkowski is a Managing Director with responsibility for risk management at Jones Lang LaSalle; Richard E. Rabs is Vice President, Insurance and Risk, for Veolia Environnement North America.



April 7 – 9, 2014

Club Saint-James Montreal

Designed for the risk executive who wants to understand both the theory and application of ERM, workshop attendees will acquire an understanding of the ERM process, as well as ERM strategies and tools. This RIMS Fellow Workshop is a graduate level program and will include an overview of case studies, check-lists and hands-on exercises covering each of the ERM process steps.

Instructor: Jean-François Baril, RF is the Corporate Risk Manager at Concordia University.



April 26 – 27, 2014

University of Colorado Denver Business School

Just before the start of RIMS ’14 in Denver, this workshop will explore the steps to conduct strategic risk and scenario planning to not only align risk management within the organization’s strategy but to help advance the program for further success.

Instructor: Dr. Joseph A. Milan is Principal of JA Milan and Associates, LLC.



April 26 – 27, 2014

University of Colorado Denver Business School

Just before the start of RIMS ’14 in Denver, this workshop will address commercial contracts and insurance policies as risk transfer vehicles relating to commercial insurance, insured agreements, indemnity agreements and captive insurance.
