Karen Beier is the Vice President, Risk Management for Shaklee Corporation, a leading provider of premium quality natural nutrition and personal care products, environmentally-friendly healthy home products and state-of-the-art water and air purification devices. Karen is responsible for managing the global insurance program, providing risk management services to existing and expanding international operations, leading the environmental health and safety initiatives and the establishment of crisis management/business continuity. For six years prior to joining Shaklee in 1984, Karen was the Risk Analyst for Natomas Company, a diverse international energy resource company based in San Francisco.
Karen was a member of the Board of Directors of the Society for two three-year terms, from May 1, 2001 - August 31, 2007, and from March 1 – December 31, 2008. She has served as the board liaison to Member and Chapter Services, the Quality Advisory Council and, most recently, the Technology Advisory Council focusing on contract certainty and the establishment of data standards. Karen has also held nearly every position on the RIMS Golden Gate Chapter Board over the last 20+ years including President in 1993. She chaired the 2008 Western Regional Conference in San Francisco that drew record attendance and she also chaired the Conference Programming Committee (CPC) for the 2000 San Francisco and 1999 Dallas RIMS Annual Conferences following four years as a CPC member. Karen holds the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation.
