Deborah Luthi is Risk Manager for the San Francisco Water, Power and Sewer; providing services to 2.5 million people in the regional San Francisco Bay Area.
Deborah currently serves RIMS as Vice President of the Society. Her previous Board responsibilities included liaison to the Finance Committee, External Affairs Committee, Professional Development Committee, and Member & Chapter Services Committee. Prior to her service on the board she served on the RIMS Technology Advisory Council, the Executive Council, Nominating Committee, the Strategic Planning Taskforce and she was chair of the Member & Chapter Services Committee. Ms. Luthi is a member of RIMS Golden Gate Chapter; as well as RIMS Sacramento Valley Chapter, which she helped to co-found in 1991.
Ms. Luthi, a graduate of the University of Kansas in art education, has focused her creativity for over 30 years on the art (and science) of risk management. Deborah currently leads the SFPUC’s strategic Enterprise Risk Management program. She brings to this position experience as Director of ERM for Matheson, Inc. where she utilized her transportation experience as risk manager for Sacramento Regional Transit District and two San Francisco-based Fortune 500 companies. Prior to Matheson, Deborah was Director of Risk Management at the University of California, Davis where her efforts were focused on promoting ERM in higher education. In 2009 Deborah was recipient of Business Insurance’s Women to Watch award.
