Community Service Day

Join RIMS and Zurich at RIMS 2012 Annual Conference & Exhibition as we work together to give back to the city of Philadelphia.

Who: RIMS, Zurich and you!

What: RIMS 2012 Community Service Day – RIMS and Zurich need your help to assist         Cradles to Crayons with their mission of providing disadvantaged children of Philadelphia, between the ages of 0-12, with some of the most important basics of life, including clothing, school supplies, toys and much more. Community Service Day volunteers will inspect books, pack clothing, sort toys, stuff backpacks and fill orders for local boys and girls.

Real Life Stories of how Cradles to Crayons helps children in need...

  • A family came into Women Against Abuse Emergency Shelter with nothing but the clothing on their backs. An emergency order was made to Cradles to Crayons and that family was given a bundle of clothing and toys for each child within 24 hours. Each bundle of clothing was size and gender appropriate and included tops, pants, pajamas, and brand new socks and underwear. None of the clothing had any stains or tears. The toys were also of good quality and had no missing pieces, along with brand new batteries. Mom came to this social worker in tears because she had never received the quality of clothing that she received from Cradles to Crayons.
  • A teen mother who was enrolled in Power to Parent, a program for parenting teens, lost everything in a fire. All of her baby's toys and clothing were destroyed. Cradles to Crayons was able to provide books, clothing, toys and school supplies to this teen parent. These donated items allowed her child to have some sense of normalcy and freed this young mother from the stress and expense of trying to replace the baby items that she had lost. She was very excited and grateful to receive such high-quality items. This young woman stayed in school and graduated because she could focus on her education and not stress over not being able to provide her child with basic essentials.
